Introduction

PATRICIA J. SCHRAFF is a principal in the law firm of Schraff Thomas Law LLC, 2802 SOM Center Rd., Willoughby Hills, OH 44094.  Ms. Schraff is a Certified Elder Law Attorney (CELA) by the National Elder Law Foundation (NELF) and is certified by the Ohio State Bar Association Commission on Specialization for the Supreme Court of Ohio as an elder law specialist. Her practice is concentrated in the areas of estate planning and administration, guardianship, probate litigation, and long term care and benefits planning. 

She is an attorney for the Geauga County Department on Aging’s legal services program. She is also a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW).Ms. Schraff has been an integral part of the aging community serving on the boards of the Long Term Care Ombudsman, the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Cleveland, the Lake County Council on Aging and other organizations. She is currently a member of Hospice of the Western Reserve’s Planned Giving Advisory Council. She is a frequent speaker to community and professional groups on topics related to aging, disabilities, estate planning and administration, guardianships and long term care.

Ms. Schraff is the 2017 recipient of the Ruth A. Densmore Senior Advocate Award from The Lake County Council on Aging. She was also selected as a 2017, 2018 and 2019 Super Lawyer. She was previously the 1998 recipient of the Jennifer B. Langston Community Service Award from the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Cleveland, the Long Term Care Ombudsman Dr. Amasa B. Ford Award for Commitment to the Quality of Life of Older Adults in 2008 and the 2009 Benjamin Rose Institute’s Katz Advocacy for the Elderly Award.
